Walkthrough

  • (Optional) : You can start this quest by speaking to Arhu after enlisting in The Fabulous Five. Arhu can be found in his cat / human form on the upper floor of the Legion HQ in Cyseal City. Speaking to him about his experiment will get you a Arhu SparkMaster 5000 Universal Controller and also a Universal Controller Instruction Manual from the room (laying on his table).
  • After that, go to the Rank Tunnel, which is situated in the Northeastern side of Cyseal. The entrance to the cave can be found at : x:272 y:373.
  • Inside the tunnel you shall find Visco. Three of his men will join you to defeat Arhu's Robot.
  • Go further in the tunnel to start the fight against SparkMaster 5000.
    • If you picked up the Universal Controller from the first step, you can use it here to make the robot self-destruct (Angry,Angry,Sleepy). (// This method will not gain you the extra XP from fighting the Robot)
    • You get the most XP for keeping all 3 men alive. If all of them die, the quest will end right there. One way to ensure their safety is to talk to them with one of your main characters, they will follow them and just keep that character back during the fight until near the end.(1800 XP for all 3 alive). When they thank you after, stay in the conversation and kill the 2 not in the conversation (1050 XP/750XP) the last one alive will go to the Legion HQ prison as a treasure guard.
  • In Classic mode --- the robot's weak point is Lightning, but it also allows him to use his Ultrabolt attack.
    • When the robot is charged, use the three levers in the room to force it to spend its charge.
    • Alternatively you can also use the controller to make him spend the charge (Angry, Angry, Sleepy)
    • For controller users, the controllers can have different effects for the different combinations -- like disabling physical weapons for 2 turns (Sleepy, Sleepy, Happy); create a steam cloud (Angry, Happy, Angry); or even destroy the controller (Angry,Angry, Angry).
  • In Tactician (or Honor) mode --- the 2 Undead Mages will be behind the Robot. Also it will fire a salvo of missiles (Fire-damage) that will land on their target after one turn.
  • Other Info:
    • The SparkMaster 5000 has low initiative, so it will act either last, or among the last each turn.
    • Using any sort of Aerotheurge attack on the SparkMaster will charge him by 1 level.
    • When fully charged, an UltraBolt will be used and this spends the charge.
    • If his hp <50% and atleast 1 Undead Mage is still alive, he will ask for repairs ("Greasemonkey!")
    • He will only melee if target is close or after all his allies are dead..
    • He will stay stationary until the Ads die.
    • The strategy here is to position one character at each of the 3 levers and flip them once each round. The mages usually only focus on buffing the Sparkmaster and the other skeleton is easily dealt with. If you put your warrior to tank him (or a summons like Spider), it's really not that difficult of a fight. The levers only take 2 AP per turn, so flip it and then a get an attack off.
    • If he launches missiles, he will fire at a targeted character. That character has 1 turn to move outside the marked zone or it's pretty much a one shot kill. It's not hard to avoid and he usually only does it once.

  • Completing the Quest
  • Potential XP is (900 XP archer, 1050 XP each mage, 1575 XP Sparkmaster, 1800 XP all 3 men alive, 1050 XP/750 XP kill 2 of the men during the conversation after the battle, leaving 1 alive.
  • If at least 1 of the men survived the fight, go to the prison under the Legion HQ in Cyseal City and speak with Viscous. This will complete the quest. This could be one of the other men if Viscous was killed during or after the fight. Richard, etc.
    • Note: For additional loot, you can convince Viscous to open the door to the Treasure Room. If you succeed, you can freely loot the room to your heart's content.

Try this: give Wolgraff the remote, walk (ungrouped) to the area to the right with Walk in the Shadows and then use Sneak to stay hidden there. After that initiate combat with the other three and make sure to keep your distance from Wolgraff. This way Wolgraff does not join combat and you can switch to him at any time to trigger a discharge or any of the other remote options. This makes combat a lot easier.

Disabling the physical weapons doesn't seem to work consistently. Even when you get the dialogue he sometimes attacks regardless.

In the Enhanced Edition, the self destruct was changed to static discharge which does the same as the levers and rids him of his charge.

Viscous' name was changed to Victorus as well.

Am pretty sure there is no self destruct possible in the Enhanced Edition. Maybe in the base game there was, but not here.
