    • yes i do believe the various elemental shields have bad descriptions. They protect you from the 2ndary effects of elements, like a fire shield won't stop fire damage, but it will stop you from burning. Earth shield stops petrification, water freezing, air stunning. Actual elemental damage isn't blocked. Also i think if a melee attacker hits you while the shield is up they have a 20% chance to be affected by the elements 2ndary nature (like fire shield has a 20% chance to burn a melee attacker). So the spells are useful, but not as useful as the spell descriptions say since they don't stop elemental DAMAGE, just the 2ndary effects.
