Abilities in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition are the foundation upon which your characters are built for the rest of the game. The Abilities are divided into 6 categories for easy reference as to how they help to develop your character.

You start with zero Abilities, but are given 5 points to pick your favourites and add a level to them during the Character Creation phase. The more points(or levels) you put into a certain ability (e.g. Aerotheurge), the more skills you can learn from that ability (e.g. Air Shield skill that you can only learn if you have 3 points in your Aerotheurge ability).

Levelling Up

To level up a certain Ability, you need ability points equal to the level you want to increase to. E.g. If you wanted to level up your Crafting Ability from level 3 to 4, you will need 4 ability points. If you wanted to increase it then from level 4 to level 5, you would need 5 more ability points. Gaining ability points can be tricky, so use your points wisely.

Abilities

Weapon Abilities in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition increase the character's effectiveness with various weapon types. By increasing these Abilities, characters will deal more damage, gain Critical Damage or reduce the AP cost of attacking.
