Utility Items
The ingredients used in crafting are typically consumed (or depleted if they are stackable), but not always: Utility items, such as the hammer or the magical ink pot and quill function like tools. The item they are combined with is transformed, but the utility item is unchanged.
Some utility items can not be picked up, or require great strength or telekinetic ability to do so. These are similar to "crafting stations" in other games. Right-click on the crafting station and choose "Combine" to open the Crafting window with one of the two fields set to the crafting station. Alternatively, drag an item you want to craft over the crafting station and 'drop' it. The crafting window will open. These items are not destroyed or consumed in the crafting process.
